hubei province has recently put into operation the "5g beidou" highway intelligent guardrail early warning system. when the high-speed guardrail is displaced, a real-time warning will be triggered to send back information, helping high-speed maintenance personnel to arrive at the site for disposal in the first time, and complete the work of traffic diversion and incident handling.

the beidou system has the capabilities of navigation, positioning, timing and short message communication. through the 5g network, the intelligent guardrail early warning terminal can achieve centimeter-level high-precision positioning. at present, more than 50 smart terminals have been deployed on the guardrails of qianshi expressway and jianjiang expressway in hubei province. when the guardrail is tilted, fell to the ground, or passively leaves the preset position, it will actively trigger early warning information to the high-speed monitoring center in real time to feed back information such as the event time, the precise location of the event, and the basic displacement situation.
